It's crazy how instinctive it becomes to let another human being spit their food into your hand. Children change your life. There are a lot of things I have become immune to... chewed up food that was 'too hot' or 'too much' or 'yuck' ... vomit.. baby poop on my hand.. having full conversations with a person while they are on the toilet. Cadence, I don't really need a live play-by-play of your potty experience.. but thanks for that. If you don't have children in your every day life, reading those things probably made you cringe a little.. if you do.. you were probably nodding your head... yep, yes..uh huh.. been there.
When I stop and think about the things I would do for this little person it makes my heart melt. How can I love someone this much? How did I love the next one just as much? How will I be able to love two more with this level of unconditional adoration? It blows my mind. These kids aren't even mine, but I would truly do absolutely anything for them. They make my heart so full. Also, they might just be the funniest people I know.
Kids don't have a filter. This kind of honesty is rare. The only adult person that is this brutally honest with me is Jess. Jess does not hold back if she doesn't like what I've got going on. It's also a huuuuuge compliment when I walk in and she says, "I hate you." This means I look fantastic, and probably skinny. Kids are a little more direct - no need to decode what they have to say.
When you work at home a lot... there tends to be a lot of sweat pants (that I like to refer to as a wearable napkin).. a lot of ponytails... non existent make up.. and an overall not very put together look. At least that's how I roll at home. Cadence has noticed. The other day there was a commercial on about a hair product. Cadence looked at me and said, "Sisis, that girl has hair just like yours!" ... she was referring to the 'before' girl. Ya know.. the one with the flat, lifeless, stringy hair... yup. So I decided to blow dry my hair and leave it down.. yes, this is a step up from the usual.. where I just let it air dry and then pull it up in an obviously effortless bun. Cadence noticed this upgrade immediately... "Uh.. Sisis.. I almost didn't recognize you with your hair brushed." Fair enough, Cadence. Fair enough.
The girls are this blunt with everyone. Jess is just like this with the people closest to her.. particularly me. I ask for it because I'm not sensitive on the subject. This is mostly because I am aware that I have zero knowledge about fashion. When I didn't live near Jess I used to have to send her pictures of what I put on and say, "Is this cool? Or stupid?" I would suggest that anyone getting pictures taken by Jess should reach out to her for dress attire suggestions. She loves weighing in on those things, so don't hesitate to seek her advice. Do hesitate to seek my advice.. I have no idea what you should wear.
