Yesterday Jess & TJ did a one-year-old photo shoot. It really was a team effort preparing for this. Jess ordered a darling little tutu. She got a headband and jewelry from Little Sweet Cheeks Botique. TJ picked up balloons and a cake. Jess put me to work making some tissue paper flowers. I had never made the flowers before, but once I got started.. things escalated rather quickly. I felt like Buddy the Elf when he decorated for Santa's arrival. There were plenty of flowers.
It was well worth the effort. The pictures are adorable! However, this particular little girl was not a fan of cake. This seemed to fare well for me and everyone else in our household. TJ brought home the barely touched cake. He went to the drawer and got three forks.. I laughed, "..so..this is really happening? ..cake on a random night? ..and no plates? ..just dig right in?" ... you don't have to push that suggestion too strongly to get a 'yes' from me. Cadence & Clara were definitely on board as well. They also brought home the balloons for the girls, so it was pretty much a party here last night.
Today we have half deflated balloons, tissue paper scraps, half of a cake... and more than half of a case of cake-remorse. It took some self control to put down the fork. It was delicious yesterday...regretful today. I once heard a comedian say, "..cake is the true symbol of gluttony. If you eat a whole pizza people are like 'wow you were hungry' but if you eat a whole cake people are like 'you've got a problem'.." I refrained from having that problem. We plan on doing many one-year-old photo shoots in the future. For my health's sake... I hope a majority of one year olds like cake.
